SAVAGE EARTH
Event for Children aged 8-11

Saturday 6th July 10.30-11.30am
Frome Library £2
Following on the heels of last year's Dangerous Creatures, natural history writer Trevor Day and local teacher Christina Day join forces to present an hour exploring our Savage Earth.
Come along and see a volcano erupting, experience an earthquake, and watch an asteroid strike. Find out if global warming will soon be changing the face of Britain.
The hour is packed with demonstrations, displays, book readings, and opportunities for children to get involved. There is a quiz, with book prizes.
Trevor has written or co-authored more than 25 books for children and adults. Last year, his book Vouch! (about animals that bite, stab or sting) was shortlisted for the English 4-11 Picture Book Awards. This year his Dorling Kindersley book Savage Earth -on which the event is based - is published in
nine languages. Trevor's newspaper and magazine writing credits include The Bookseller, Economist, Geographical, Guardian, and Daily and Sunday Telegraph. Previously a college lecturer, Trevor currently lectures in Non-Fiction Writing at the University of Bath where he also researches accelerated learning. Christina has a strong drama background and has played leading roles in plays and musicals for Frome Drama Club and Frome Operatic Society.
This event is sponsored by Frome Library who are providing the venue and facilities and by Dorling Kindersley who are offering the book prizes.
